The publisher of the South African writer Ishtiyaq Shukri thought it woudl be good to forward a novel by this writer to the jury of the Financial Times Oppenheimer Funds Emerging Voices Awards 2015. The writer does not want to be classified according to financial terms of the country he comes from. Is he an emerging voice? Emerging out of what? Poverty? Illiterarcy? Or is he a writer with a good novel?
