In the Kenyan Parliament the members of parliament are working very hard to forestall criticism of their work, their lifestyle and their utterances. The members have agreed on a law to gag the media and to inflict heavy penalties. The bill has gone up to the president, to sign or not to sign, that is the question.

The Kenyan writer Rasna Warah wonders why Kenyan writers keep silent about these developments.
