In conversation with author Leila Aboulela

The Sudanese writer Leila Aboulela was present at the 2017 Kaduna Book and Arts Festival, in Northern Nigeria. In the run-up to the festival there were concerns about her presence, should she go or not? I am not sure why there were concerns. Was it about safety? But even Sudan is not the safest place on earth, or in Africa.

Read here about the ideas of Leila on the role of literature written in Arabic, the importance of translations and a few other topics.
